Quick 10-Minute Meals for a Lazy Saturday In 💤

Quick 10-Minute Meals for a Lazy Saturday In 💤

After a long week of work and daily duties, you’d probably much rather curl up on the sofa with a movie and a take-out box instead of taking the time to cook. We’ve been there too. While spending your Saturday like this is tempting and convenient in many ways, your wallet (or weight scale) won’t thank you once this becomes a weekly habit. 🤷

We know it takes a lot of effort to dedicate more time than you can afford to prepare food on your days off. And you don’t have to. Have a look at our quick and easy 10-minute meals and you won’t find it that difficult to say no to take-out next weekend.

Flavourful Frittata

There’s nothing like a late-morning plate of eggs to get you going. This Italian dish is similar to an omelette or your typical scrambled eggs but is just that more fun. If you’ve never tried this meal before, don’t worry about unnecessary and complicated measurements. This is a 10-minute meal after all. 🍳

All you need to do is to whisk up some eggs and distribute the mixture evenly on a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Chop up your frittata fillings and throw them over the eggs. Once your eggs are mostly cooked on the first side, flip it over with the help of a plate. When both sides are evenly cooked, your frittata is ready to serve. Cream cheese, spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers and bacon are excellent frittata toppings.

Quick Pizza

Life without pizza is boring. This recipe is ideal for anyone who’s trying to cut back on calories, without missing out on the good things in life. 🍕

Start by preheating your oven. For your pizza base, you’ll want to use a tortilla or wrap. Next, spread some tomato sauce and olive oil (If you don’t have tomato sauce, some kunserva you probably already have in your fridge will do). After this, cut up some fresh mozzarella slices and place them all over your pizza base. With toppings, go as wild as you want. You could garnish your pizza with tuna and olives, pepperoni and bacon, different types of vegetables - there are no rules with pizza. Once it is ready, pop it in the oven for around 5 minutes, and serve.

One-Pot ‘Aglio Olio’

You can never go wrong with a comforting plate of pasta. Aglio Olio is not only simple to make: it’s a delight to eat when seasoned right. While your spaghetti is boiling, finely chop up some garlic on the side. Follow the 3 garlic cloves per serving ration to calculate how much garlic you should be adding. While the traditional Aglio Olio recipes only consist of olive oil, garlic and red chilli flakes, I like to add more flavour to my pasta dish. 🧄

Finely chop an onion and some mushrooms and prepare some baby spinach. Once your spaghetti is cooked and drained, place it back in the pot and add some olive oil. After around 2 minutes, start adding your chopped up ingredients, adding tablespoons of oil every few minutes. Garnish with red chilli flakes, salt and pepper. Serve.

Blended Ginger Carrot Soup

It’s warm, it’s comforting and extremely good for you. Treat yourself to this mouth-watering ginger carrot soup that detoxes your body (it might even tempt you to try out a detox diet).

Start off by chopping half a white onion, 3 carrots and 1 garlic clove. Throw them in a pan on medium heat, adding olive oil beforehand. Add 1 and a half tablespoons of minced ginger and sauté for a few minutes. Season with some salt and curry powder. Once they’re done, throw your ingredients in a blender with 2 cups of water for a thick consistency. Add some more salt, pepper, curry powder and some bouillon. Blend it all up. 🥕

Once your soup is blended, reheat in a pot and serve. Sprinkle some pumpkin seeds on top, as well as a dash of olive oil and a few basil leaves. Dig in.
