DIY Face Mask inspiration: 4 foods that are good for your skin 🛀

If you happen to be keen on good food as well as skin care regimes, this article is just for you.

When it comes to food, the amazing taste a good dish has, can often distract us from the fact that, when it comes down to it, a food ingredient is a natural substance with nutritional value. In fact, there are many natural foods that prove to be beneficial for the skin - and for many reasons. 🥑

Next time you’re in the mood for some self-pampering and relaxing time, try one of these natural, food-based face masks you can make right from the comfort of your home.

The Breakfast Mask

As it turns out, the wellness of your skin is yet another reason why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. ✌️

Ingredients: one egg yolk, one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of olive oil and ½ a cup of oats

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

Instructions: Blend together well and once a liquidy paste is formed, stick it on your face

Benefits: Oatmeal is known to make skin soft, soothe it and calm down any patches of redness or blemishes

The Hydrating Mask

This may sound like an Instagram worthy sandwich snack, but its ingredients are much more than that. Has your face been feeling unusually dry lately? Try this hydrating mask - you’ll thank me later!

Ingredients: ½ an avocado, two tablespoons of plain Greek yoghurt, one tablespoon of honey

Duration: 10 to 15 minutes

Instructions: Start by mashing an avocado and add the yoghurt and honey to it. Stir well, and gently rub it onto your face after cleansing it.

Benefits: Avocado oil is also a great option for natural moisturization and is easily absorbed into the skin.

The Vitalising Mask

Would you ever deny yourself from having glowing, lively skin? By trying out this citrusy and fragrant face mask, you’ll be on your way to having some pretty shining skin. I like to save some of the mixture and add it to my green tea - it’s packed with vitamins and super good as well.

Ingredients: one tablespoon of honey, ¼  the juice of a lemon, ½ the juice of an orange

Duration: 20 minutes

Instructions: Mix the ingredients mentioned above together until an even consistency is formed. Spread this onto your face after washing it with your face scrub or wash of choice for best results.

Benefits: Oranges and lemons are known to be packed with vitamin C, which is what’s going to add that beautiful glow to your skin.

So far would you make these?

The Banana Mask

Trust me, doing this mask will make you want to run to the kitchen and make a dozen banana pancakes. In fact, you might want to go ahead and make these delicious pancakes while you’re waiting to rinse off your mask!

Ingredients: ½ a banana, ½ a tablespoon of coconut oil, one tablespoon of honey and ½ a cup of oats

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

Instructions: Mash the banana with a fork and add in the coconut oil, honey and oats, all while stirring heavily. Scrub onto your face and let sit for around 15 to 20 minutes.

Benefits: Bananas are packed with vitamin A, which promotes skin-cell turnover and helps pores stay clean
