Tomorrow’s Ginger Ale day: here are 3 FoodBlog cocktails to try out 🍸

Tomorrow’s Ginger Ale day! And we at FoodBlog feel that one of the best spices in the world (yep, we’re talking about ginger🥢) deserves a bit of hyping up. To make the most out of this day, we would have suggested going out for a cocktail to get a taste of this super tasty ginger ale beverage and you know, destress a little... but a mini-lockdown has once again forced us to stay indoors. So why not bring the booze home and whip up a few ginger ale cocktails for you and your bubble? 😉


Thyme Indoors

This crazy FoodBlog concoction is an ode to the past year we've spent in self-isolation, socially distanced from the crowds. We've had so much thyme indoors, we thought we'd whip up a fun cocktail with ginger ale as the base star! Here's the recipe:

  • ½ oz Gin for a good kick, no one's driving today
  • ½ oz of homemade thyme-infused simple syrup
  • a splash of cranberry juice
  • ginger ale to top up your cocktail
  • a sprig of thyme for garnish

To make your simple syrup, reduce equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan until a syrup is formed. Throw in some thyme leaves to bring out that herbal flavour and strain before pouring. 🍸



Corona Blues Ban

Another ginger ale cocktail to keep you occupied this #StayHomeStaySafe edition, a blues buster that its 100% FoodBlog approved. Enjoy this drink in the sun, with a few nibbles and your lockdown clan - what more could you ask for? Here's how you can shake it up:

  • 1 oz Vodka to scare the blues away
  • a tot of Blue Curacao for a touch of colour
  • ½ oz lime juice for that zing
  • ginger ale to tone down the booze
  • a tonne of ice to keep things cool
  • a slice of lime for garnish
  • ground pink Himalayan salt to rim your glass

This margarita will give you life... and it's really easy to make. Shake it all up in a cocktail shaker, packed with ice. Squeeze some lime on the rim of your glass, dust it in ground salt, strain and serve. Cheers! 🍹



Whiskey Lockdown

No lockdown, however mini, will keep you away from your whiskey... this FoodBlog recipe will keep the spirits high! It's quick, easy and super refreshing... so sip away at this cocktail, the day will go by so much faster. Here's the rundown:

  • 2 oz whiskey, or more if you're a champ
  • 5 oz ginger ale to get the bubbles going
  • 1 oz lemon juice, or lime juice if you're feeling fancy
  • as much ice as you can fit in your glass
  • garnish with blueberries for that FoodBlog twist

There's nothing like a tall whiskey cocktail on a hot, almost-spring day; and absolutely no better way to celebrate National Ginger Ale Day! Keep this drink close by tomorrow, we promise... it's a winner. 🥃
