The Ultimate FoodBlog Bucket List: Some foodie ideas for March! šŸ“‹

As youā€™re marching your way through 2021, youā€™re probably wondering how you can make the most out of every single day of this year. We might have missed out on most of 2020, but hereā€™s what we can do this month to make up for that: šŸ’Ŗ

Make Ful bit-Tewm

Our beloved ful (broad beans) come into season this month. So what better way to commemorate the month than by making the traditional ful bit-tewm? All you need is broad beans, garlic, vinegar, olive oil, water, parsley, and some salt and pepper. šŸ§‚

Cook the minced garlic in just a bit of olive oil and add the beans. Add just enough water to cover the beans, add the rest of the ingredients and let everything simmer until the beans are tender and the liquid has reduced. Enjoy! šŸ˜‹

Read Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat

If you want to go on a culinary journey that helps you to understand the process of cooking with different elements and teaches you how to build a dish from scratch through your instincts, then read. this. book. šŸ“–

In Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, Samin Nosrat delves deeper into cooking like nobody else has ever done before. This book helps you to understand what youā€™re doing in the kitchen and it will help you become a better cook. If youā€™re not much of a reader, you can also watch the Netflix show. šŸ“ŗ

Try out Bianca's Chimmi Burger

Biancaā€™s went through a little bit of a refurbishment back in January and their menu got some killer new additions too. If youā€™re thinking of heading over there, look out for the new Salchi Papas, the Cajun Battered Wings, the South Dog, and most importantly, the Chimmi Burger. šŸ” However be FAST as we've heard that they're nearly the end of their stays on the specials board.

The Chimmi Burger is made up of a fresh beef patty, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, egg, and chimichurri, a sauce of Argentinean origin that has parsley and cilantro as its main ingredients. Doesnā€™t that sound like the perfect burger to welcome the spring season? šŸŒž

Watch Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody

This series was launched on Netflix in late January and itā€™s just two episodes long for now. Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody goes into the history of this beloved ingredient, including where the Koreansā€™ love for pork belly came from and the different ways that it is cooked, such as samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly). šŸ¤¤

If youā€™re wondering where you can get some amazing pork belly locally, head over to Wagyu Bar & Kitchen for their amazing Pork Belly Bites or check out DOMA for some samgyeopsal.

Buy a new kitchen gadget

Because, why not? Whether youā€™re looking to amp up your cooking skills or save some time in the kitchen, the right kitchen gadget will make the process much easier. Get a meat thermometer to cook your meat just right, a rice cooker for the perfect fluffy rice, a coffee bean grinder for fresh coffee, or a pizza stone to get a gorgeous, evenly-cooked crust. Whatever you need! šŸ¤·

You can find super cool kitchen stuff at The Kitchen Store, Butlers, Cose Casa, and so many more places locally, or check out Amazon if you cannot find what youā€™re looking for in Malta.

Create your own cocktail

No, you donā€™t need your own shaker to do this, although itā€™s still a really cool thing to have in your kitchen. Whether you want to experiment with your favourite alcohols or follow a recipe for your favourite cocktail, you can mix your cocktail using a mason jar, a travel mug, or any other container that seals very well. šŸ¹

If youā€™re making your cocktail from scratch, remember to taste your ingredients before you start so that you can pair them well and try to strike a balance between the flavours. Donā€™t forget to garnish and give your cocktail a name! šŸ¤©

Grow a new herb

Get your green fingers going! Find a nice pot or reuse a milk carton or large plastic bottle, get some good soil and find seeds for your favourite herbs. March is the perfect month to grow your own herbs - thereā€™s plenty of sunlight but the weather is not too hot. šŸŒ±

If youā€™ve never grown your own herbs before, start simple - try growing some parsley, basil or mint. On the other hand, if youā€™ve got a bit of experience up your sleeve, experiment a little further and try growing some rosemary or lavender. šŸŒæ

Have you got a bucket list for 2021?

We might be restricted with what we can do because of the whole pandemic thatā€™s going on, but thatā€™s no reason for you to keep back from experimenting! What will you be trying first this month? Let us know in the comments!
