Take a look at our go-to Carbonara spots around Malta! (Part1) 🇮🇹🤌

We here at FoodBlog love a good pasta carbonara, and we’re sure most of you readers do too. It’s a classic Italian dish that is both simple and simultaneously complex, that anyone can make so long as they’ve mastered the basics. 👩‍🍳

In no particular order, these are the top spots where you're sure to hit the carbonara jackpot. 🤑

P.S. You won’t find a single ounce of cream in this list. 🤫

Zero Sei

Trattoria Zero Sei know their way around a carbonara, as well as every other Roman pasta dish. The only non-traditional thing about their carbonara is the choice of rigatoni rather than spaghetti - but it bangs just the same (if not better). 🙏

Agliolio

When it comes to their spaghetti carbonara, Agliolio at the Radisson Blu are consistent; never missing the mark for a banging plate. What falls slightly short of authentic is that they use a mixture of guanciale and pancetta, but this does however make it 100% delicious. 💯

N’duja Osteria

N’duja Osteria are as authentically Italian as it gets, but also have the option to add a twist to their immaculate carbonara: truffle. Whilst it may sound like an abomination, trust us on this one - it’s a heavenly match of flavours. 👑

One Portomaso

One Portomaso at the Portomaso Marina makes an excellent spaghettoni (a broader spaghetti) carbonara that’s just all around great: creamy, eggy, and containing generously sized pieces of guanciale. 🐷

Marrobbio

This pizzeria located in Sliema and Carob Tree, St Julian’s sure does know how to deliver a real Italian experience, and their carbonara is no exception. Marrobbio brings a whole new level of authentic to the table with their homemade fresh pasta. 🍝

Stanjata Cafe

A cute little spot in Birkirkara packing big flavours, Stanjata Cafe knows just how to make a carbonara kif suppost - packing big flavours in every bite. 👌

Sale e Pepe

The carbonara at Sale e Pepe is as authentic as it gets. Served with al dente spaghettoni and a creamy sauce of egg, Pecorino and the absolute star of the show... guanciale. A traditional combination with flair and ultimate flavour! There's no way you can, or should, pass up this bombshell of a dish! 😋

Storie & Sapori

This iconic Napolitan eatery spanning 3 locations has an egg-cellent carbonara that’s everything the dish should be. Storie e Sapori definitely hit the mark with their tasty dish. 🤤

Impasta

With 3 different locations serving up the freshest pasta and delicious sauces, everybody knows what’s up at ImPasta - especially when it comes to their carbonara. The best part is the fun task of selecting what pasta shape to go for (carbonara doesn’t just go with spaghetti!). 🕺

FoodBlog Tip: If you're not a huge egg yolk fan, ask for the La Gricia - a FoodBlog special that will blow your socks off!

La Cuccagna

The carbo-dreams at La Cuccagna are right on point! The gooey sensation of a carbonara with a bonus egg yolk for that added lush. These guys know exactly what's up, from the tiny shards of peppered Pecorino to the perfectly crips guanciale, you're heading towards peppery, creamy goodness right here. 🥚

Bonus: Olive 3

This new, hot eatery in Birkirkara can whip up a creamy AF carbo in no time. Their Carbonara Special is made with pecorino, egg yolk and the never-disappointing, always-crispy guanciale. Give Olive 3 a try if you haven’t already - trust us! 👌
