Expats Rejoice! The One Man Pie Shop We Didn’t Know We Needed 🥧

British expats; if, like me, you’ve grown accustomed to the odd Wudy and pastizz every now and then, I can guarantee you still miss a proper sausage roll on occasion. It’s natural - we all miss some things from back ‘home’. 🤗

Well, let your stomach rumble in glee

Because the British Pie Man is here to save the day. 🥧✨

Our new updated menu, for you all. thank you so much for you amazing compliments and your support of our small business

If you cast your minds back to the summer of (trigger warning) 2020, Fat Louie’s had offered some gourmet pastizzi to anyone quick enough to get their hands on them. 🤤

To the Maltese, this was god-tier chivalry. To us expats, this was an eye-opener. And to one certain oven-savvy expat, it was the lightbulb he needed to introduce something we often take for granted when visiting family back home: proper British-style pies. 🇬🇧

Granted, British pies aren’t exactly British 🤔

Because the square root of anything ‘British’ is French. And we all know how Malta faired with the Francs back in the day… 😶

But that doesn’t mean we should have to wait for the yearly return to a cold land to enjoy a proper meaty sausage roll, a steak and kidney pie or even just an authentic cottage pie with fancy piped mash on top. 🤩

The beauty of the British Pie Man’s work is that while he does offer up a menu of sorts to choose from, it’s not to stop him going the extra mile. 💪

If you’re after a pie for yourself or a pie big enough to feed the five-thousand, he’s sure to accommodate your every need. 💯

Frozen pies are available for collection, fresh can be called upon as long as you’re a few days in advance. 🏃

But this man really has all we need: minced beef and onion, jumbo sausage rolls (eleven inches of sausage mix wrapped in golden pastry), even the cum-what-classic; mac and cheese deep-dish pies. 🤤

The beautiful thing I love about pies is that they don’t need to look beautiful. The crust was never intended to be eaten, that was just us humans getting greedy (and even for that we can’t be blamed, pastry is delicious in all forms). You really can’t judge a pie by its lid, but you can judge it on the filling. It really is what’s on the inside that counts. 💖

But whether you’re a fan of the traditional chicken and mushroom or just want to let your tastebuds travel across the Med (to get to the other side), the British Pie Man has anything an expat could ever ask for… except haggis. But that’s for another day. 😉
