Regular or Boozy? Fontanella’s Milkshakes are here to slay! 😎

Regular or Boozy? Fontanella’s Milkshakes are here to slay! 😎

There are some places in Malta that everyone knows about, regardless of where they live or who they are. When you mention the name of the place, people go, “ah yes, I know that one!”. Fontanella is definitely one of them. 👌

Starting out back to 1975, this place has definitely made a name for itself. Fontanella prides itself in providing great food using the best ingredients possible. Everything is made inhouse and freshly prepared every single day. The menu evolved along the years, but the classics, like the beloved strawberry meringue or the decadent chocolate cake are still made using the original recipe from over 45 years ago. 😮

The timeless milkshakes

The milkshakes at Fontanella are thick milk chillata shakes topped with cream. They’re refreshing, thick, creamy and delicious. There’s four killer flavours for you to choose from: 👇

French Vanilla

No ordinary vanilla, obviously. 🤷

Chocolate

Smooth and silky chocolate goodness! 🍫

Strawberry

Fruity and fresh, just the way it’s meant to be. 😋

Banana

A summery, refreshing glass of awesomeness. 🍌

The boozy milkshakes

If you want to up your milkshake game and have a bit of fun, you can have your pick from Fontanella’s three alcoholic milkshakes: 🥂

The Drunken Mango

If you’re a whiskey fan, you should definitely try this one. A vanilla milkshake mixed with mango and Jack Daniel’s, the Drunken Mango milkshake will give your day a little party kick. 😉

The Pina Colada Style

This tropical concoction is the perfect summery drink. Having a vanilla milkshake mixed with coconut, pineapple and Bacardi, you’ll feel like you’re at the beach in the Bahamas! 🍹

The Irish One

If you’re a fan of the sweet stuff, this one’s for you. The Irish One is a chocolate milkshake mixed with Baileys Irish Cream, giving you all the creamy, boozy goodness that you deserve. 🍸

Pair them with homemade crepes!

We weren’t kidding when we said Fontanella make everything fresh and inhouse. Their crepes (and waffles too!) are homemade and you can choose a sauce and a topping of your choice to go with either one of them. Doesn’t a milkshake and a crepe sound like the perfect dessert combo? 🤤

Who’s behind Fontanella?

The founder - the person we’re all grateful for - is Louisette Sant Manduca. She was brought up in Malta and only started out Fontanella as a pastime. Little did she know that it would eventually become one of Malta’s favourite spots. ✌️

The best thing about this place is that it can be enjoyed at any time of day. You can have a coffee and a piece of cake in the morning and a platter and a cocktail in the evening - it’s both a tea garden and a wine bar! Either way, eating good food whilst admiring a breathtaking view is priceless. 😍
