Craving a burger with a twist? These restaurants have got your fix! 🔀

Craving a burger with a twist? These restaurants have got your fix! 🔀

There is no greater weekend treat than a juicy piece of meat sandwiched between a bun. Ask anyone what their go-to meat treat is and they’ll undoubtedly answer: “Burger, hi!” But what if you’re craving something a little more elevated than the usual beef and pickle combo? 🍔

You take a look at this list and make your choice for where to head, of course. These are some of Malta’s best alternative burgers on offer - try not to drool too much.

Chicken Bao Burger, The Mill Gastro Pub

A FoodBlog.mt favourite - the Chicken Twist here is an absolute whopper of fried chicken and cheese with a sweet crispy portion of golden wonder fries on the side. 🐔

Salmon Burger, Ichiban

The Shake Burger at Ichiban comes topped with avocado and teriyaki sauce, with a filet of salmon cooked perfectly soft in the middle. Salad is optional.

The Beef Brisket Bun, Il-Gabbana

The Beef Brisket Burger is not exactly a burger, but this bun at Il-Gabbana still comes with xeba beef. Extra points for super melty cheese and a sweet AF brioche bun. 🧀

Literally anything from Chocokebab Café

Everything on their menu, burger-wise et al. is guilt-free. Even their egg-toppers. If you’re looking for a burger that won’t upset the PC patrol then check out Chocokebab Café’s list of meat-free alternatives.

What's your go to burger?

The Maltese Burger, Coogi’s Mdina

Half rabbit mince, half Maltese sausage, this patty boasts a true homegrown flavour burst. Sandwiched between a sesame bun and topped with grilled aubergine, Parmegianno and an olive tapenade. If you’re looking for Malta’s quintessential addition to a burger roster, then the Maltese Burger at Coogi’s is it. 👍

The Octopus Burger, Sea Salt

If you love your seafood as much as you love burgers, then the Octopus Burger at Sea Salt is the one for you. A whole octopus all to yourself, with their signature day and a half fries? Yes, please.

Marelli’s Chicken Katsu Specials

Marelli Cafe have been toying with their special menu since Chef Maria opened their doors. But the most recent addition of a Chicken Katsu Burger has been tempting newbies through their doors since the lifting of lockdown. Every few weeks, expect a different burger to feature - but rest assured knowing that the only constant amidst all the change will be the beautifully fried piece of chicken between it all. 🤩

Obviously, these aren’t all the alternative burgers around. Malta’s burger game has been growing rapidly over the last year or two and we’re excited to see where it takes us all.

Buckle up taste buds, we’re all in for a wholesome meal of a ride.
