Asian VS Italian: The Ultimate Food Choice 🤔

Asian VS Italian: The Ultimate Food Choice 🤔

Noodles vs spaghetti, dumplings vs ravioli, satay vs carbonara - how can you choose between something that is so unbelievably delicious? Asian and Italian have to be my top 2 favourite cuisines and luckily for me, there are two restaurants in Malta that serve the best food from each cuisine. 😏

When it comes to Asian cuisine, one of our go-to spots has got to be Genki Asian Cafe. But if we’re looking for an Italian festa, we make our way to Zero Sei. Here’s why we love them both: 👇

Genki Asian Cafe: The Asian Masters

Located within both the Ta’ Xbiex Seafront as well as the Carob Tree Foodcourt in St Julian’s, Genki Asian Cafe are masters of the beauty that is Asian cuisine. What I love about this cuisine is the complexity in flavour and the variety of dishes from one country to the other within the same continent. 🌏

Genki offer some healthier alternatives to the usual dishes, but they do not compromise on flavour. They have so many options to choose from! Let’s have a look at some of their best ones:

Salmon Sushito

The sushi at Genki is super good, but if you want to have a giant portion of their sushi in the form of a burrito, get the sushito! The salmon one is probably one of their best ones. 🤤

Duck Poke Bowl

This healthy bowl is full of flavour. It includes peking duck, sushi rice, soy eggs, nori sheets, and a mix of vegetables. Doesn’t that sound fantastic? 😋

Chicken Pad Thai Rice Noodles

This Thai noodle dish is a staple in Asian cuisine. It’s tasty and gorgeous! The Chicken Pad Thai Rice Noodles at Genki features chicken, tofu, eggs, chillies and other things that make it super flavourful, including the Chef’s special Pad Thai sauce! 🍜

Which cuisine do you prefer?

Zero Sei: The Italian Royalty

If you’re craving Italian food, you can never go wrong with the entire Zero Sei Group of restaurants. Everything they make is truly authentic and Fausto Soldini, the brains behind Zero Sei, does not mess around when it comes to ingredients. 👌

There are 4 restaurants that make up the Gruppo Zero Sei and they all serve some of the greatest dishes that Italy has given birth to. Let’s have a look at what you can have from the Italian cuisine pros! 😍

A pinsa romana from Sotto

A pinsa romana is a traditional Roman-style pizza which is fluffier and lighter than the usual pizza, but it still has a bit of a crunch on the outside. It is packed with flavour! The pinsa from Sotto, located in Marsascala and Valletta, is one of the most delicious meals you’ll ever have. 🍕

You can also get the pinsa from Casa Sotto, along with some awesome starters, like the burrata al tartufo or the porchetta. 🐷

A platter from Prosciutteria

Doesn’t a platter with authentic Italian cold cuts paired with an Italian beer sound perfect? Prosciutteria serve some killer platters as well as bomb sandwiches! And obviously, you can also have the pinsa here too. 💪

A REAL Carbonara from Zero Sei

A carbonara that is true to its roots. Just egg, guanciale, pecorino romano and a whole lotta love. If you want the best Italian pasta dishes and meat dishes, Zero Sei Trattoria Romana is where you head off to. 😌

Both Italian and Asian cuisines are known for their pasta/noodle dishes. The most amazing thing is that, using the same (or a very similar) main ingredient, we get dishes that are so different in flavour but equally yummy. Lucky for us, we have two killer restaurants for both cuisines! 🥳
