Craving a snack? Here are some items you HAVE to try in Malta asap! 🤤

Sometimes, your routine stop at the closest Sphinx (or whichever pastizzeria you prefer) to grab the usual pastizz or sausage roll tal-Wudy is just not enough. You might be in a rush, but you also might want to snack on something different, something refreshing, maybe even something healthy, for once. 🤷

Check out these awesome snacks (and where you can get them from) for when you’re peckish:


Bao Bun

If you feel like biting into pillowy-soft deliciousness filled with everything that is good in the world, get yourself a bao bun (or two). Think of it as an elevated version, both in taste and looks, of the common sandwich. 🥪

Where to get it: Banh Mi, KuYa, Wagamama, Saigon, Tiffany's Bistro.



Poke Bowl

A fancy Hawaiian version of salads, poke bowls (even referred to as just "bowls" in some places) are a boost of freshness that we all need on a hectic day. Sashimi, avocado, edamame beans, cucumber, radish, scallions, and steamed rice are all common components of poke bowls. 🥗

Naanwich

Naan bread is good. Sandwiches are good. Combine the two together and you'll get something glorious. Naanwiches are basically sandwiches made from naan bread, so just imagine the feeling of biting into a crunchy, yet fluffy, garlic naan filled with tender, juicy chicken pieces and drizzled with tikka masala. Damn. 🤩

Sushi

Ok, back to Earth. We all love sushi, don't we? I've met very few people who do not like sushi, and to be quite honest, I'm not sure if I can trust them. If you're on the go and you're looking for a quick bite, sushi can be your best friend. 🍣

Where to get it: Zen Sushi, Sako Sushi, Yoshi Sushi.



Bread

Whether it’s a ftira, ciabatta, baguette, or a traditional hobza biz-zejt, any kind of bread is probably the most fulfilling thing you can eat in a few minutes. The best thing about us Maltese is that we love our carbs, so most places in the country sell some sort of bread or another. 🥯

Where to get it: EAT, The Submarine, La Baguette, Cafe Jubilee, J’Oli Sandwich Salad Bar, Duke's Snack Bar.



Turkish

A quick doner or shish can be a lifesaver when you've been running errands all day and you just want something warm, delicious, and satisfying. Thankfully, kebab spots are becoming as common as pastizzerias here on the rock. 🥙

Where to get it: Mevlana, Falafel Street, Kebab Ji, Posh Turkish.



Healthy snack

Something lighter, healthier, and more refreshing can give you a well-needed energy boost in the middle of your busy day. Go for healthy wraps, salads, noodles, bowls, or buns. I mean, let's face it, we all need to give our bodies a break sometimes. 🧘

Where to get it: Dr. Juice, Eeetwell, Leaf, Mint.



Savoury crepe

Why aren't these more common? I'd devour a savoury crepe over a wrap any day. An airy, light crepe filled with whatever I want? Yes, please! 😍
