Smoothies You Need to Start Making Right Now 🍌

Smoothies You Need to Start Making Right Now 🍌

Students know that the first month of the year is all about one thing: stress, stress and even more stress. With exam season upon us, curling up inside and indulging in fatty comfort food is all too tempting. However, having to press pause on your daily routine to submit assignments and ace exams means that we should be taking care of our body now more than ever. 😪

Luckily, smoothies are an excellent way of getting your daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. The best thing about them is that you can make them as healthy or as indulgent as possible. Sticking to a healthy diet helps you stay alert, fuels you with energy and makes you think better - it’s also hard to resist it when you can make so many good smoothies. Here’s a few of our favourite:

Basically Banoffee Pie

As it turns out, dark chocolate and bananas are some of the healthiest foods out there - and are both ingredients that students should be eating more of due to their proven health benefits. Pairing dark chocolate chips, bananas and peanut butter to make a smoothie is a really amazing way of starting your day off. They basically taste like dessert when blended together. To make this drink even healthier, however, I’d use almond milk and add in some chia seeds as well. 🍌

Protein-Packed Purple Power

The purplest smoothie you’ve ever made. This one is a summer favourite. It’s made with mixed berries (black, blue, red, strawberries etc), banana, protein powder, almond milk and acai, which is a tropical purple fruit. The banana and almond milk perfectly balance out the somewhat sour taste of the berries and acai, but to make it sweeter you can even add a tad of honey. 🍒

Immune Boosting Treat

Strengthening your immune system has never been more important. Drinking this smoothie not only does a lot to prevent you from getting sick, but it also fills you up with energy to last you almost all day. This smoothie contains plain Greek yoghurt, orange juice, lemon juice, ginger, apples, honey and turmeric. You can also add ice to it. 🍊

Luscious Lemon Smoothie

There should be more lemon-based smoothies out there. This zesty smoothie is made with vanilla yoghurt, honey, ginger, lemon juice, lemon zest, chia seeds, ice and a pinch of cinnamon. It’s also really good for us, what with its immunity-boosting properties. This drink will really get you into experimenting with the smoothies you make. 🍋

Morning Coffee Turned Healthy

I’ll always keep on praising this coffee smoothie. You can say it’s basically a healthier version of iced coffee. In fact, it’s made with ice, coconut or vanilla milk, cold brew coffee, banana, Nutella or peanut butter (or both ‘cause you deserve it) and honey. It’s as sweet as it is energising, and I really think you’ll love it if you’re a coffee fan! ☕
