BREAKING: Wok to Walk Malta is now open.... Again! 🥡
COVID-19 has been taking its toll on the local food scene for a little under a year after the first Maltese cases were reported in March 2020. Wok to Walk was one of many restaurants made to close their doors after being forced to resign to a delivery-only operation. 😌
But luck be with the local foodies:
After a quiet closing down that seemed to be for good (the Paceville location itself actually went up for rent) it seems as though a mystery buyer has saved the franchise from falling into the category of gone-too-soon international chains in Malta. 💪
The chain is a staple in Amsterdam, where it first began back in 2004 after two friends went travelling in Asia and fell in love with the food. 🍜
So, what happened?
COVID-19 forced pretty much every restaurant in Malta to shut their doors to footfall and put on-demand delivery at the forefront (which we can see as a blessing in some ways). 🛵💙
But it seems as though Wok to Walk was hit hard enough to eventually silently close down for good. 💔
But eagle-eyed foodies might have noticed by now that their old franchise car has been parked back outside the Paceville joint and the franchise is hiring staff for their kitchens again. 👀
Having spent the entirety of lockdown last year binging on crime shows I think I’m pretty knowledgeable of investigations by now; all signs currently point to a reopening. ✨
We don’t have long to wait for our next wok 🤩
Make sure you download the Wok to Walk app - they’ll be opening their doors again on the 28th of January... or so we heard. 😉
So all in all, a happy ending. Looks like it won’t be too long of a wait before we can Wok to Walk again. 😎
