The Ultimate FoodBlog Bucket List: May 😎

The Ultimate FoodBlog Bucket List: May 😎

What's up, foodies, it’s May tomorrow! It's been a crazy year here at FoodBlog, just like the rest of the world, probably! We're almost halfway into 2021 - we cannot believe how fast time is passing by. So. let's not waste it, shall we? Check out this list of things that you can do this month, and May the odds be ever in your favour:

Cook something with fresh figs

These awesome fruits are soon to be in season and available on the market, so keep your eyes peeled! This is how you know that summer is just around the corner. Figs look absolutely gorgeous and they taste divine, so when you add them to a dish, they boost flavour and give it a beautiful finish. 😍

Figs go really well with other fresh ingredients, like goat's cheese, for example. Try making a pizza with caramelised onions, goat's cheese and fresh figs. You can also make Fig Bruschetta, a fig salad, or add figs to your pasta dish. If you want to make something for dessert, try making this lovely fig tart. 🤤

Perfect a recipe

Do you have that one recipe that you just love making but you always feel like something’s missing? Or you keep thinking, “I could have done it better”. Or even a recipe that you think you’re good at, but you just want to be better. It’s time to level up! 😏

Practice, practice, practice. Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes. So find some time to level up your cooking skills and perfect your favourite recipe. Repeat the process, get someone who will give you honest feedback to test your food, and research ways on how to amp up your dish. You can do this! 💪

Make a homemade salad dressing

As the weather starts getting warmer, we'll be on the lookout for fresher, colder foods. Salads will become more common, but they do not have to be the usual, boring, lettuce and tomatoes. 🥗

Adding a dressing to your salad amps it up so much more and when it's fresh, it's even better! Try making your own salad dressing at home, get creative and don’t forget to tag us! 👈

Try something that you don't like

It is a known fact that I hate blue cheese. I cannot stand the smell and I've never been able to eat it either (yes, I have tried). But I know that our taste buds evolve, so sometimes, I try it again to see if my taste buds have grown accustomed to this feet-smelling cheese. No luck, so far. 🤢

I used to not like peas either, but one day, I tried eating them again, and they didn't taste so bad. Now, I love them! So find something that you don't like and try eating it again. Who knows, maybe you'll even become the next biggest fan! 🤷

Have a virtual dinner

In times like these, we're all trying to stay home as much as possible, but that does not mean that we cannot have quality time with the people we love. Pick a date, a time, and a restaurant that delivers, schedule your delivery through the WOLT app, and get on a video call! 💻

Get donuts delivered

Speaking of deliveries, it's not just savoury foods that can be delivered. Donuts can be found all over the island, but super awesome filled American donuts can only be found at a select few places. 🤩

Donut Empire, for instance, have made a name for themselves. They offer their own deliveries but you can also find them on Bolt Food. Zwiit Cravings also deliver their stunning donuts! 🍩

Make your own bigilla

I never knew bigilla was so easy to make! You might not find tic beans easily, but St George's Brand can get them delivered to your door. All you need are tic beans, garlic, olive oil, parsley, water, some chilli flakes (if you wish) and TIME. You need to let the beans soak in water for at least 12 hours and they take a while to cook too. Check out the full process here. 😋
