The FoodBlog Malta Burger Battle: check out who won the battle! 🍔

The FoodBlog Malta Burger Battle: check out who won the battle! 🍔

Some people watch the Champions League, others the Olympics, others prefer to read a book whilst sipping some tea. Well… we also enjoy these things but guess what we prefer? We prefer to find out where some of the best food on the islands, maybe with help from our daily followers... you guys! 👍

Here’s how the Burger Battle concept started

Launched towards the end of July, our Burger Battle was a round-robin style of knockouts involving 14 restaurants and burger brands that can be found around Malta. These restaurants included the following first matchups.

All the winners in group one of the foodblog burger battle, in a knock out form with the FoodBlog branding

Here's how the burger battle started.

We then divided all teams into two groups, with the aim of eliminating all challengers and ending up with the winning restaurant. The rounds began taking place and hundreds of votes started to come in too, at this point we were unsure whether users will be interested in a competition like ours. One with no prize for the viewers themselves! Our hunch was right! People don’t only care about themselves but even about their local burger joint!

The Burger Battle Stats

We selected these eateries based on a randomly chosen audience of 100 members to each inform us of their favourite burger on the island – we allocated the votes and included the 16 most popular in our first battle. đź“Š

Semi-final of the FoodBlog Burger Battle

The 4 semi-finalists battle it out to see whose burger reigns supreme!

As the battles began, eateries were eliminated and communities united together, it came down to our last 4 eateries: Hermanos, NomNom, Sticky Fingers and Novi. The four heavyweights were ready for their semi-final battles. All four games turned out to exceed all previous battles tenfold reaching over 15,000 unique users per battle

The battle was set to last for just 23 hours and 45 Minutes until 18:00 the following day. We kicked off, and within the first 30 minutes; 500 votes per establishment were already in, we knew it was going to be a big one! 142 Shares, 3,300 Reactions and 59,000 Reached Users later, we found our winner, with a grand total of 1,800 votes from their fans! Well done to Sticky Fingers eatery on this amazing battle and on winning our first ever FoodBlog food competition! 🤩

Do you agree with the outcome of the Burger Battle ?

Apart from the excitement and entertainment this battle had to offer our users, it also offered an exquisite form of marketing for all 16 burger establishments as they were hand-selected to form part of the battle. Our mindset was to help these businesses in any way we could during COVID-19's worrying times. Should any of the eateries included in the FoodBlog Burger Battle like to reach out to us for any further help, do not hesitate to contact us.

Burgers you’ve got to try...

As we previously indicated, all burger brands were hand-picked by us and our members for a reason. And that’s because they sure know how to whip up a good old burger… so we’ve decided to help you out with the best burger from each establishment! 🏆

Bandit – Double Barrel Burger (Greasy)

Hermanos – Chicago Bacon (American style)

Hugo’s Burgers – Luke’s Burger (Solid and juicy)

Badass – The Daddy (Huge and saucy)

Burgers Ink – Duck Burger (Another level of gourmet burger)

Henry J Beans – Full Throttle (Massive – almost 500 grams + the works)

Shoreditch – Jameson Burger (For you whisky lovers)

NomNom – BYOB (Recommend the Wagyu Grade Beef)

McDonald’s – McBacon or Big Tasty (We might agree here)

Sticky Fingers – Oak Smoke (Extra Jack sauce + fried egg)

Bianca’s – Bacon Cheese or Chicken Burger (both equally amazing)

Ichiban – Tori Karaage (Deep Fried Chicken and Sriracha goals)

Novi – The Legit (double or triple patty + cheese)

Hard Rock – Guinness Bacon Cheeseburger (Proper American McCoy, frozen patty but it’s a good one)

Danny’s – Bacon Cheese (No better patty than this one – even in #DannysAtHome at home kit)

The Daily Grub – Onion Bhaji Burger (Burger with an Indian twist... it's divine)

A special shout goes to Tiffany’s Bistro, Pulled Meat Company, New York Best, The Oven and Bohini – they were not included in this battle for various reasons, some examples of reasons being: closing down/closed down/untried until launch/unknown/too new... but luckily, we can vouch for all these establishments' products as we have visited each spot at least once since the Burger Battle. đźŤ”
