The End of an Era: Andrew’s Bar in Paceville will not Reopen 💔

The End of an Era: Andrew’s Bar in Paceville will not Reopen 💔

It’s always a sad day when a popular spot closes down, especially one that has been with us for a total of 112 years! Andrew’s Bar in St George’s Bay is quite popular amongst the residents of St Julian’s, and they pride themselves in being the oldest bar in Malta. 🍺

However, the recent restrictions and strains related to the current pandemic, as well as the construction around the area, have forced Andrew’s Bar to remain closed. 🔐

Five generations of fun are coming to an end

This popular spot overlooking St George’s Bay has been in the Chircop family for five generations, since 1909, to be exact. With a fully-fledged party scene right around the corner, Andrew’s Bar kept soaring, serving delicious dishes to their customers while they enjoyed the views of St George’s Bay, with an iconic pint in hand. 🌊

Whether it was a quick, fresh ftira biz-zejt that you were after, a good ol’ English breakfast to start your day, or an awesome Maltese-style lunch or dinner, Andrew’s Bar was definitely a killer spot for good food. 🍔

Will you miss Andrew’s Bar?

What’s going to happen now?

Construction and COVID both have a role to play in this iconic place’s closure. Simon and Andrew, the owners of Andrew’s Bar, wish they could keep the place running successfully, but an upcoming construction plan has not left them with much choice but to sell the place. The area will soon be surrounded by cranes, so that factor plus the dust that will result from the construction, will not be an ideal spot for customers. 😔

The strain that has resulted from the coronavirus pandemic has not been helpful either. So the owners have decided to sell their beloved bar and restaurant. While the new owners plan to keep the place open amidst the construction, the current owners are not sure what will happen. 💔

Wouldn’t you love to still be able to visit this place for a good breakfast on a sunny Sunday morning? We’re definitely going to miss this place! Share your memories of Andrew’s Bar in the comments below. 👇
