Sotto, St. Julian's: Not just about the pinsa! 🤩

We all know (and LOVE) Sotto Pinseria Romana by Zero Sei. Fausto Soldini and his team have taken Malta by storm when it comes to authentic Roman food. They introduced the Pinsa Romana to Malta and they've been growing ever since. 👌
However, at one of their newest outlets, it's not just about the Pinsa Romana. The pinsa is still the main attraction at Sotto in St. Julian's, but there are quite a few other characters that are making the show spectacular. 😎
The Supplì
These delicious bites are basically fried balls of rice with mozzarella in the middle. Yes, they are very similar to the Sicilian arancini, but unlike arancini, supplì do not contain meat and peas. The ones from Sotto are incredible - perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with that lovely cheese pull from the mozzarella. 🤤

Supplì for the gods!
The Mozzarelline
Speaking of cheese pull, the Mozzarelline are superb! These little fried balls of cheesy goodness are a must-try from Sotto in St. Julian's. 😍

Look at that cheese pull!
The Pecorino con Miele e Noci
This dish is an absolute star! Slightly melted cheese topped with a generous drizzle of honey and crunchy walnuts - it's a perfect combination of flavours. 😋

This is what cheese dreams are made of.
The Ascolana Olives
Even if you don't like olives, you should still try the Ascolana Olives out. The olives are filled with minced meat and deep fried, creating a super flavourful, crispy dish. 🤩
The Zucchini Flowers
I don't know about you, but I had never tasted zucchini flowers before. These flowers are beautiful to look at, but I had no idea they would be so delicious! They're fried with a mix of anchovies and some mozzarella and they are absolutely divine. 😏

The fried zucchini flowers are mouth-watering.
Perfect fries
When I say perfect, I really mean it! You wouldn't expect a simple portion of fries to be recommended to you, but you need to try Sotto's fries when you visit their St. Julian's outlet. They are perfectly seasoned and have just the right crispiness to them. Beautifully golden brown too! 🍟

We got a platter of everything.
You still cannot miss out on the pinsa though
Yes, Sotto in St. Julian's might not be just about the pinsa, but you cannot go to Rome without visiting the Pope, am I right? 🤷
We tried the Pinsa Suprime and the Pinsa Parmigiana, and both were spectacular. The Suprime has an element of freshness to it thanks to the gorgeous burrata, while the Parmigiana has a lovely, salty kick from the parmesan that complements the aubergines perfectly. 🍕
