Malta makes headlines with the Vegan Qassata 🤩

Malta makes headlines with the Vegan Qassata 🤩

Yep, that’s right, folks, our country is making news again. This time, it’s worldwide vegan news! Have you ever tried a vegan qassata tal-irkotta? Well, now you can make one yourself, thanks to local veggie seller, Daniel Pisani. 😎

The Vegan Qassata in The Plant Based Planet Cookbook

Daniel Pisani contributed his vast plant-based foodie knowledge to the project by creating a cookbook with traditional recipes from around the world, but fully plant-based. You may know Daniel from Vincent’s Eco Estate, which is a fully-fledged organic farm. Daniel sells vegetables there, and now, thanks to him, Malta is being represented in the Plant Based Planet cookbook through our beloved qassatat. 😍

The recipe that Daniel created is vegan qassatat tal-irkotta, something which is very much Maltese. You can find qassatat (even though not vegan) around every corner of Malta. As a child, Daniel’s grandmother used to bring him an qassata every Wednesday, so it’s safe to say that she’s a huge inspiration for this creation. But now, everyone from around the world can make their own vegan qassatat! 😋

It’s for a good cause!

The people behind the whole idea for a plant-based cookbook with traditional recipes from around the world are The Vegan Food Fiend and Sareta Puri. The book that they curated is not just another cookbook. Anyone who buys this cookbook will be helping out the Food Empowerment Project, since all proceeds from the sales of the recipe book will go towards this project. This project aims to create more awareness around a plant-based lifestyle and its benefits. 🌱

They do not only focus on the fact that vegan products are kind to animals, and that a plant-based lifestyle is essentially good for our health and the entire planet, but also on the fact that even vegan products may be derived from countries where child labour is still reigning or from areas where farmers are not paid a living wage. The main focus behind the Food Empowerment Project is that our food choices should be cruelty-free all around. Isn’t it incredibly awesome that our tiny island is being featured in such a great cause? 🤩

Will you be buying the cookbook?

If you would like to purchase this cookbook, it’s available from the Plant Based Cookbook website. Thank you Daniel Pisani for contributing to such a wonderful project and making our country proud! 💪
