COVID DRAMA: New Benna ad sparks sexist debate! Do you agree? 🥛
At the start of March, Benna released a brand new flavour to their much-loved milkshake range, this time, however, their launch caused some major uproar… but not because of the taste of the shake this time around.
If you missed the commercial (somehow), have a look at the Benna Red Velvet ad down below:
The video caused some friction with the general public, with followers clearly upset and angered at the Maltese company, as can be seen below: (Comments obtained from the comments section the video post above)
“It’s 2021 Benna (Malta Dairy Products Ltd.) - we’re no longer tolerant of casual sexism, do better.”
“This is a sexist advert, encouraging men to sexually harass women at work. Disgusting.”
“Dan riklam ta gentleman club u mhux tal-halib. Isthu”
However, others saw the ad in another light, not necessarily taking Benna’s ‘side’ but rather looking through the commercial from another angle, as can be seen below:
“Everyone commenting about sexism and objectifying women... While I don't really have an opinion on the advert, has anyone taken note of the explicit lyrics in today's hit songs played on end on local radio stations? Now that's disturbing on a whole other level, but you all had to take it against a milk advert... 🤦🤦”
“I think they made a mistake. It should have been for cheese, because it's cheesy AF. Very creative....”
As can be seen, the video is getting mixed opinions but we want to know your honest opinion…. so please, let us know if you think this Ad was out of line or if it has been blown out of proportion?
Since this, Benna have reacted to the claims stating ‘We support gender equality,’ and the commercial was ‘not intended to offend’ anyone, according to The Times of Malta.
