1 Month to Go! FoodBlog’s Ultimate Christmas Shopping List 🎄

The best time of the year is just one month away - ONE.MONTH. PEOPLE. Can you tell I'm excited? Christmas is a time of togetherness through our favourite medium, which is obviously food. 😍

Christmas lunches, dinners, parties - they all include food, whether you’re the one making it or the one eating it. So just to prep you up for this AWESOME holiday season, here's our shopping list to help you stock up on all the yumminess. 😋

Christmas Spices

Those beautiful Christmas smells in the kitchen come from somewhere! Whether you’ll be making some cakes, cookies, curries, soups or even hot cocoa, these spices are a must have during the holiday season: 😌

  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Cloves
  • Ginger
  • Star anise
  • All spice

Christmas herbs

Shifting more on the savoury side, there are some herbs that will take you holiday dishes to the next level. Make sure to stock up on these flavoursome herbs: 🌿

  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Sage
  • Tarragon

Panettone or Pandoro (or both)

This is the time I’m always waiting for. Pandoro is probably one of my favourite things about the holiday season and yes, it is much better than panettone! As soon as Lidl brings these out, I go and buy two at a time because I know I’ll finish one in probably less than a week. 👀

So if you’re like me, pandoro (or panettone if you’re that person) needs to be in your cupboards (or readily cut up on a plate on the kitchen table for easy snacking). Pro tip: try a piece of pandoro dipped in your tea. 🤤

Mulled wine

Christmas time, mistletoe and wine! Mulled wine, to be exact. This is just the perfect alcoholic drink for those super cold nights. It’s sweet, warm and aromatic. 🍷

You can stock up on the bottles of ready-made ones or grab some bottles of red wine and try making your own! While you’re at it, stock up on some regular booze, especially brandy, which is quite popular in the kitchen during this time - you might find some super good prices around this time. 💰

Do you love Christmas?

Gingerbread biscuits

The joy that gingerbread biscuits bring along with them is just plain wonderful. Zingy and flavourful, these bad boys are the perfect snack with your tea. ☕

Apart from that, if you have guests over, they make a great edible table decoration! 🍪

Chocolates

Calories don’t count during the holiday season! One of the greatest things about Christmas time is that every brand of chocolates imaginable start making new chocolates with a Christmas-y theme. This gives us a good excuse to try them all out. 🍫

Don’t forget about advent calendars! Let’s please just stop pretending these are only for kids. No matter what age I am, I will always want an advent calendar. 🙄

Dried fruit and nuts

Most recipes related to the holiday season usually include some form of dried fruits or nuts in them, so it’s a good idea to stock up on them. ✌️

Christmas cake contains both, for example, and that’s obviously an important part of Christmas. But the ones that you really need to stock up on are chestnuts - you cannot have Christmas without imbuljuta. 🌰

Stock up on the basics

If you’re planning on cooking up a storm or having guests over this holiday season, you definitely need to stock up on the basics. Here are some things that we all use on an everyday basis that you might need more of this month: 👉

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Syrup
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Eggs
  • Oil
  • Butter

Are you planning on hosting and cooking for others this holiday season or are you planning to eat everything in sight instead? Let us know in the comments! 👇

But whatever you do, let’s all take a second to remember that not everyone can have their cupboards stocked up or be surrounded by friends and family, so maybe be a little extra kind to the ones around you or donate to places that will really need your help! Christmas is all about love, after all. 🧡
