How to prepare The Perfect Foodie Gift Basket 🎁

How to prepare The Perfect Foodie Gift Basket 🎁

Is there much nicer in life than receiving a gift of food and drink? We at FoodBlog think not! And what’s even better than that? A carefully selected choice of goodies assembled by someone who knows how to put together a perfect hamper of treats that will leave you feeling truly spoilt. At this uncertain time during the era of social isolation and quarantining, this could be the ideal gift to drop off in front of a friend or family member’s front door - zero contact delivery and an uplifting experience for the recipient. We’ve put together this straightforward guide to preparing the perfect foodie gift basket. Read on to see how to do it! 🤩

Know your audience

Try to think about what your recipient actually likes. Think back to conversations about their favourite snacks, do they like dark chocolate or hate it? Are they allergic to nuts or a gluten-free goddess? There are some classic hamper-fillers which will go down a treat amongst the fussiest of people, but a little attention to detail goes a long way in situations like this. 🍫

Find your vessel

It’s what’s on the inside that counts... but let’s face it presentation is key and this definitely holds true in the food hamper context! You can afford to get creative here, repurpose an old gift basket or even use an old drinks crate, cardboard box from the grocery store, a serving tray wrapped in cellophane, or even an old tote bag or gift bag will do! Top tip: don’t forget to remove the gift tag if repurposing an old gift bag! 📦

Think of your theme

Feel free to get creative here. Are you hoping to encourage the recipient to indulge in some me-time? Is this a gift basket intended to bring a family together and enjoy some quality time together with some good food? Is it a gift for a new parent, a bride-to-be, someone who’s homesick and needs some comfort, or a post-wedding thank you? This will help to determine what kind of goodies you should include and helps add a personal touch. 🎀

What to include

OK, so if you’re going for a savoury theme, and want to include some cheeses or delicious dips, think about what would be needed to enjoy the basket collectively. Cheese requires some accompaniments such as a box of crackers or some fresh bread! A cinema-themed hamper might need some m&ms to go alongside a salty packet of popcorn. And of course, no gift basket should go dry - a bottle of their favourite wine or soft drink is a nice addition to make sure your lucky recipient has something to wash their goodies down with. Think of the basket as a whole, rather than its individual parts.🍾

Money matters

By all means, head into your local gourmet store and fill up on artisan items, but gift basket planning needn’t break the bank! Some well-thought-out and more economical items would be well-received too - someone who loves breakfast (who doesn’t love breakfast?) might enjoy a simple basket of fresh eggs, bread, some good coffee, and a carton of juice. 🍊

I know I’d be thrilled to receive any of these items, wouldn’t you? After all, it is the thought that counts!
