How to Get Yourself to Eat Healthier This Year 🥗

How to Get Yourself to Eat Healthier This Year 🥗

Why should we bother with eating healthy food? As it turns out, eating nutritious meals is much more than producing an attractive number on our weight scales. The benefits of healthy food are plenty - it prevents a significant number of diseases, improves our memory, enhances our mood and helps us sleep better, to say the least. 😴

If there’s anything 2020 has taught us is that health is wealth, so let’s have a healthier 2021 by getting ourselves to eat more healthy food. Here’s how:

Stop thinking that healthy food is boring food

For real though. Healthy food doesn’t have to be about replacing everything with lettuce and flinging bags of sugar out the window. The way I see it, healthy food means being able to eat our favourite meals while incorporating more vegetables, whole grains, protein and other highly nutritious ingredients into our diet. Yes, this also includes our beloved pasta, pizza, burgers and Asian dishes. 🍳

Keep healthy food on hand

This makes it easier to just grab something healthy and go. More often than not, it’s much faster to stop at a nearby pastizzerija for a quick snack than to make a salad. However, doing simple things like having a fruit basket on the table, taking nuts and protein bars to work and making smoothies for 3 days straight will get you used to eating healthy food on the go. 🍌

Remember why you’re doing this

As always, keeping in mind the reason you’re doing something you may be struggling with, is a good way to keep you going. Why do you want to eat more healthy food? To get more fit, to lose weight, to cleanse your body from endless drinking nights? For some people, visualisation is extremely helpful. You can print a picture of your reason to be healthy, or at least something you associate with it. 🥬

Do it with a friend

Everything's better when done with a friend. Changing up your diet to eat more healthy food with a friend can motivate you much more than if you had to do it on your own. This way, you’ll be able to push each other, exchange healthy recipes and generally be more keen to stick to a healthier lifestyle. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Follow healthy recipes

If you’re short on ideas on what healthy food you can make at home, turning to recipes for guidelines can make life a little easier for you. For starters, you can check out our healthy recipes for inspiration. But don’t worry, we’re not all about salads! 🥗
