No Staff! Giuseppi's Bar & Bistro set to temporarily close on Tuesdays.
Giuseppi's, which is a chic Bistro located and the newly renovated Salini resort, have this morning announced that they will be temporarily closing their doors on Tuesdays
Why?
This decision came due to a serious lack of staff, and rather than overworking their current employees, the management at Giuseppis opted to take the staff's wellbeing into consideration and close on one day a week for the time being.
“Kindly be advised that, regretfully, due to the serious staff shortage issue our industry is currently facing, and also for our current team’s wellbeing, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close Giuseppi’s on Tuesdays,” the restaurant’s owners Michael and Chris Diacono said.
They will be opening as usual every other day, as per the following quote from their official Facebook Page.
In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you on any other day of the week and remember ... even though we are more than happy to be there, doing what we love most, please be considerate with your servers they are trying their hardest, with the limited resources available, and that smile doesn't come easy when exhausted 😉 We thank you for your understanding. Chris & Michael
The industry has been hit hard by COVID with many businesses struggling to find front or back-of-house staff. Many of the local travel restrictions forced many foreigners to leave the country throughout the pandemic which had a negative effect on the businesses.
Last month the Malta hotels & restaurants (MHRA) association urged the government to help out and react to these issues by proposing an exemption to hospitality industry workers from their tax on overtime and part-time work,
“Indeed, we need to do all that is necessary to attract and retain employees working in the tourism industry, even during such difficult times. If we get this wrong, then the repercussions can be serious,” it said.
Here's what you can expect to eat on your next visit to Giuseppi's!
