Foodie show guide. Here are our top food show picks 💻

We are the Netflix and Chill generation, there’s no getting away from that. It’s ingrained in our psyche, it’s fixed in our minds. And, truth be told, there are days where we’d happily put on a pair of sweatpants, grab a bucket of popcorn (and a few other snacks) and stare at a TV for a couple of hundred hours. But what if you could learn something while watching? 🤔

There is so much food inspired content out there that choosing your favourites to binge watch is quite a tedious task. Luckily, we’ve whipped up this list based upon different qualities, we think a TV show should have:

The Ultimate Game Show

If you’re a 90s kid, you probably grew up watching Ready, Steady, Cook - that was the calibre our modern-day cooking ‘game show’ had to live up to; luckily current cooking shows out there totally surpass our expectations. Competitive cooking shows are now super elaborate and have high expectations of their professional or amateur chefs; they’re also judged by top chefs - so that’s already a challenge. 👩‍🍳

We think that this is probably a three-way draw between Chopped (Food Network), Iron Chef America (Food Network) and The Final Table (Netflix).

The Educational One

Learning about food is the route to learning what should and shouldn’t go into a dish. While most of you reading this would be shocked that Masterchef (FOX) is not on the above list, the amount of stuff you learn while watching the masters themselves cook. is incredible; in my opinion; one of the most educational culinary journeys out there. 🔪

But... and it's a huge but… Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat (Netflix) is high up on our list - as is The Kitchen (Food Network) with Geoffrey Zakarian and other superchefs.

The Easy Watching

This is a list that can go on forever, Food Network has so many good ones; with Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri probably at the top of the list while Channel4’s Come Dine With Me is always super easy to watch. But Netflix kills it with four shows that you should definitely add to your list if you’ve not seen them already; if you have, just watch them again. 🍿

Do you like Food Shows?

Allow yourself some feel good vibes with The Chef Show with legendary Roy Choi, Ugly Delicious with David Chang, The Mind of a Chef and Somebody Feed Phil

Go on! It’s time for a binge fest, you know it was coming on sooner or later; resisting the temptation is just going to make your craving stronger. Sit down, hit play and buckle in… but don’t get too comfy; you’ll be popping in and out of the kitchen experimenting with new recipes all weekend - food TV’s biggest; but most welcome, drawback! 😆
