Cool drinks to freshen you up in summer ๐Ÿน

Cool drinks to freshen you up in summer ๐Ÿน

The heat is on! Although the heatwave in Malta from a couple of weeks ago seemed to have calmed down a bit, we could all still use a nice, cool drink to beat the summer heat. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

You might feel like drinking something different other than cold water to cool down, so weโ€™re giving you a list of options! ๐Ÿ˜

Homemade lemonade

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! All you need to do is add sugar, water, and ice. Thereโ€™s nothing quite like a glass of cold, fresh lemonade on a hot summer day, especially when youโ€™ve made it yourself. Check this easy recipe out! ๐Ÿ‹

Blended frozen watermelon

Yep. Just freeze some cut up pieces of watermelon and then blend them in a food processor or smoothie maker. Watermelon is mostly made of water, so you will automatically have that โ€˜iceyโ€™ component to your drink. Just follow Jurgenโ€™s (@gratefulveganguy) instructions below! ๐Ÿ‰

Bubble Tea

This one might be a bit of a hassle to make at home (or maybe a bit of a hassle to find boba in Malta). But all you have to do is head over to The Plaza Food Hall and find Tea Fusion (or order through WOLT or Bolt Food). Their bubble teas are top notch! ๐Ÿง‹

Do you enjoy the summer heat?

Any kind of iced coffee

Iced coffee is the best kind of coffee there is. Almost every coffee shop in Malta makes iced coffee, but if you want to stay home, just place some ice cubes in a glass, add some cold water or cold milk, and add a shot of espresso. If you want some sweetness, add a teaspoon of sugar or drizzle some caramel syrup! ๐Ÿคค

Boozy granita

Vodka granita? Canโ€™t say no to that! This recipe only requires cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, vodka and sugar. Itโ€™s really quite simple to make and Iโ€™m just very glad I came across it! ๐Ÿ˜

Smoothies

This one might seem a bit obvious, but how can you not love smoothies? You can literally blend any fruit you like to make any flavour you want, or you can buy from a number of places across Malta (Boost, Jโ€™Oli, Shakes n Bakes, JAR, Oakberry, Mint, and so many more). ๐Ÿ“

Homemade flavoured iced-tea

I always thought iced-tea was something super complicated to make, but it turns out, itโ€™s fairly easy. It can get a bit boring to always get the store-bought kind, so it might be fun to make your own! Check out this recipe for Blueberry & Mint Iced-Tea. ๐Ÿ˜‹
