Chocomel:The Dutch Choco milk that's becoming a local favourite! 🍫🥛
Who doesn’t like chocolate milk? There’s a new contender on the scene and its name is Chocomel. A Dutch imported brand favoured by athletes for a quick boost in the morning, this thicc boi gives Benna’s own chocolate milk a run for its money. 👀
If you’ve ever tried Yazoo, you know 😏
Back in the UK, Yazoo milkshakes are the go-to for school canteens. There’s nothing quite like a thick, cold chocolate milk drink. 💯
Since moving to Malta, I’ve struggled to find a decent contender for Yazoo’s top spot; given Benna is a local brand it obviously sits pretty high up (and is delicious in a league of its own). 🇲🇹
But nothing (so far) has made me salivate quite as much as a Yazoo… that is, until I met Chocomel. 🇳🇱
My biggest gripe with the drink is the size of the bottles. They are available in Malta in both single-serving bottles and cartons - but that is only if you manage to find them before the shelves clear. From experience, the cartons are almost always out of stock. But you can always grab a few 300ml bottles online. 🖥️
Where this drink gets interesting is the culture behind it
Every child in Holland grew up drinking Chocomel, a champion above the rest in the line of chocolate milk drinks. No one in ‘Dam likes Nesquik - the Chocomel cartons trump all. 🏅
Danish kids love the stuff ice cold on a summer day - winter sees their parents warm it through to keep their brood comfortable when the snow hits. The limits to what you can do with a bottle of Chocomel are endless. 👼
And it’s not just kids that go mad for the stuff, either 😏
No sir, us grown ups can have our fun with Chocomel too. 🤩

Chocomel can be paired with your favourite biscuits, blended with ice cream to make the thicc-est shakes - mix the drink into your favourite ice-cream recipe to make it uber chocolatey - there are so many things you can do with Chocomel. You’ll just have to make sure you can find some first. 😉
