5 food things the Maltese do when heading to Comino 🏝️
Comino, Malta's beautiful sister island with crystal clear waters, can be the perfect place to spend a day off. Plenty of sunshine, gorgeous beaches and copious amounts of fun - sounds like a perfect summer day! When it comes to the Maltese, all of this is always combined with food - because how can we live without food? We also tend to have some signature Maltese foodie moves, especially when we're going somewhere for a whole day. Here are five things that Maltese people tend to do when they're off to Comino: 🏖️
Pack way more food than needed
When it comes to packing food, we're always a little generous aren't we? And if we're off to an island where there is only one hotel and a couple of food trucks, we make sure to pack extra. I mean, what if we run out of food?! 😱
Eat all your food before lunch time
This is one of the main reasons that we tend to over-pack when it comes to food. You might start smelling your food through your cooler on the way to Comino and sneak a bite. You also need to get there early if you want a good spot, so all that travelling might get you hungry. That's when the snacks start running low. Oh well! 🤷
Get something to eat from the kiosk
Having eaten everything before lunch time obviously means that we get hungry again in the afternoon and you cannot go for a day in Comino and stay hungry, now, can you? Thankfully, there are always a couple of kiosks to save the day (even though they can be expensive sometimes). Or maybe you could save your pennies and keep your fingers crossed for the elusive Dr. Juice Boat to treat you to your favourite liquid lunch. 🧐
Buy the famous pineapple drink
What's a day in Comino without THE pineapple drink from the Blue Lagoon Cocktail Bar? You know which one! We've all had that beautiful, refreshing drink inside an actual pineapple and snapped a shot for the 'gram while we were at it. 🍍
Have ice-cream for dessert
Most of the stuff we Maltese do revolves around food, so obviously, we want to end our day of stuffing ourselves at one of the most gorgeous islands on the planet the right way: with dessert. We do know how to enjoy our days, don't we? 🍦
